ALBANY — The Albany Herald previews the 2015-16 high school basketball season today. As the season begins, there are number of storylines to look out for as the season begins.
The Monroe girls basketball team has lost in the quarterfinals of the Georgia High School Association Class AAAA quarterfinals the past two seasons. Will this be the year they advance to the semifinals?
Last year, no Dougherty County public school boys basketball team made it past the first round of the state tournament. Will that change this year?
After winning the Georgia Independent Schools Association Class AAA state title, can the Deerfield-Windsor boys make another run at a state title?
Calhoun County lost a wealth of talent from its Class A public school boys state championship. How will the Cougars do this season?
In Class AA, the Pelham girls made the Class AA semifinals in 2014-15. But after losing three-time Herald Super 6er Briunna Freeman, can the Lady Hornets duplicate their success?

With most of its team back from last season and after making the semifinals of the Class A public school tournament, will the Terrell County girls make a return trip?
And after falling in the GISA Class AAA semifinals last year, ending Westwood’s run of back-to-back state titles, can the Lady Wildcats win another championship?
Southwest Georgia is not short on talent again. In a 100-mile radius of Albany, three boys players will sign scholarships with Division I-A schools. Worth County’s Anfernee McLemore will sign with Auburn next Friday, while just outside the Herald’s coverage area, Seminole County’s Jordan Harris and Bainbridge’s Tyree Crump will both sign with Georgia.
