COLUMBIA, S.C. — After splitting a pair of games that included a high-scoring win over Benedict on Saturday, the Albany State baseball team struggled to find offense in Sunday afternoon’s series finale.

ASU lost a close 4-2 contest to the Tigers.

With the loss, the Rams fell to 5-18 overall and 4-2 in the SIAC. Benedict improved to 14-7, 4-2 in league play. The two teams are tied with Paine for first in the SIAC East Division.

Albany State fell behind 1-0 after the first inning and 3-0 after the fourth. ASU attempted a rally in the top of the fifth inning. Chasen Roulhac hit a two-run homer to cut the Rams’ deficit to 3-2.

However, Albany State could not muster any more offense for the rest of the game. Benedict added another run in the eighth inning to end the scoring.

Roulhac led Albany State by going 2-for-4 from the plate. The Rams collected three hits. Calvin Tatum was the losing pitcher.

Albany State will return to action on Tuesday when it travels to Savannah to face Armstrong State University. Game time is slated for 2 p.m.
