The Albany State baseball team fell behind early Tuesday afternoon and could never gain the momentum to make a comeback. ASU lost its second game of the season to Lee University by the score of 10-1 in Cleveland, Tenn.

With the loss, the Rams fell to 8-20 overall. The Flames, who won the previous Feb. 9 meeting 15-0, improved to 21-15.

After falling behind 6-0 after the first two innings, Albany State scored its only run in the top of the third. Nic Griggs’ sacrifice fly scored Jonathan Cirullo to cut the deficit to 6-1.

However, that’s as close as ASU could get. Lee added three more runs between the fourth and fifth innings and one in the eighth to secure the win for the home team.

Robbie Feagans led Albany State by going 2-for-2. Michael Davis (0-3) was the losing pitcher. The Rams collected six hits and committed one error.

Albany State will return home on April 8-9 to resume SIAC play. The Rams will face 2016 SIAC tournament champion Claflin University. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday’s single game will start at 1 p.m.
