Albany State Golden Rams baseball sweep Clark Atlanta

After sweeping Clark Atlanta in double header Saturday, the Albany State Golden Rams baseball team swept another doubleheader from the visiting Panthers. The first was a pitcher’s duel where the Rams scored in the bottom of the seventh inning to win 1-0, and the second was a rout when Albany State blewout Clark Atlanta 17-3.
In game one, Malik Barrington pitched a complete game shut-out and allowed just three hits while striking out 12 batters. Impressive work defensively held both teams scoreless until the seventh inning when Ryan McClendon scored on a balk. Each team managed on three hits. Travis Ray, Jr. had two of Albany State’s hits while Theo Smith had the other hit.
Game 4: Albany State 17, Clark Atlanta 3
Game four was a different story. The Golden Rams pushed four runs across the plate in the first inning and scored in each inning except the third. The Golden Rams put up eight runs in the fourth for the knock out blow. The Rams smacked 17 hits during the game, with one of those hits being a two-run homer by Theo Smith. Travis Ray, Jr. and Chasen Roulhac had three hits each. Smith and Quan.Dodson-Williams each had two. Ray, Kyle Walker, Tate Thompson and Ben Greenstein doubled during the contest and Avery Roth tripled for the Rams.
Blaylor Galice (2-3) allowed five hits and struck out seven to record his second win on the mound this season.
The Golden Rams will next travel to Columbia, South Carolina for a four-game SIAC series against the Tigers of Benedict College on March 30-31st. The first game is slated for 12 p.m. Albany State will close out the series on Sunday, March 31st at 1 p.m.
