Albany State golfers sixth at Hurricane Invitational
Host Georgia Southwestern wins tournament at Doublegate Country Club

ALBANY — The Albany State men’s golf team had the opportunity to play in town for the first time this season. Unfortunately, ASU could not find victory at the Doublegate Country Club.
The Rams finished sixth at the Hurricane Invitational, which was hosted by Georgia Southwestern University.
Albany State finished at 319 on the first day of competition, while finishing at 315 on Tuesday to finish at 634, 58 strokes over par.
The host Hurricanes won the event with a 580, four strokes over par. Emmanuel College placed second (600) and West Alabama was third (602).
Individually, Davis Vener led the Rams with a 73 and one under par. That score tied him for third place. Dominic DiGiacomo finished tied for 12th place (76, +4).
Albany State will continue its historic season by competing in the 2017 SIAC Men’s Golf Championship Tournament for the first time in school history. The event will be held April 17-19 at the Flat Creek Country Club in Peachtree City, Ga.
