ALBANY — The 2017-18 high school basketball season tips off this weekend, and the Albany State West Campus Arena will be the site of Saturday’s Albany Tip-Off Classic.

The event starts at 4:30 p.m., following the 2 p.m. Columbus State-Albany State men’s basketball game, with Monroe’s girls taking on Lee County. At 6 p.m., Westover’s girls take on Dougherty.

Boys action begins at 7:30 p.m. with Monroe playing Lee County. Closing things out at 9 p.m. will be Westover and Dougherty’s boys.

In order to accommodate Thomasville’s second-round football playoff game, Westover moved its season opener against the Bulldogs up a night. Thomasville’s boys beat Westover 70-56 on Thursday, with Westover’s girls prevailing 52-36.

For the other three schools involved, Saturday serves as the season opener.
