Albany State runners win Willie Laster Cross Country Invitational

The Albany State Golden Rams women’s cross country team defended home turf over the weekend, taking first place in the annual Willie Laster Cross Country Invitational.

In front of the legend himself, Kiyah Pittmon took first place overall with a 5K time of 20 minutes, 26 seconds.

The Golden Rams took first place as a team with a score of 21 points. Georgia Military College scored a second place finish with a 59, Fort Valley State was third with 83, South Georgia College finished fourth with 96, Middle Georgia State finished fifth with 98 and Wesleyan (Ga.) rounded out the field with 145.

Individually, ASU’s Zenay Rhaney finished second overall with a time of 20:46. FVSU’s Kashia Darville finished third (21:13). Jordan Elder finished fourth for ASU (21:55). Zamya Rhaney placed fifth for ASU (21:59).

ASU’s Mariah Hunter placed 10th (23:02). Imani Jones rounded out the Golden Rams in the event by placing 17th (24:20).
