AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Albany State Golden Rams swept both contests at Paine College in Augusta Monday night, with the men winning 73-63 and the women starting the night off with a 67-59 victory.

To start the night, the ladies of ASU used a total team effort in the 67-59 victory as 14 players logged minutes and 11 Golden Rams scored points.

ASU dominated down low, outscoring the hosts 38-24 in the paint and doubling up the Lions in second-chance points (20-10).

It was perhaps the bench that was the biggest difference. The Albany State reserves netted 40 points to Paine’s 18.

Uchemdirim Ibebunjo led Albany State (7-17, 6-7) with 12 points followed by Breanna Wilson who scored 10 points.

Keondra Archie had a game-high 19 points and 10 rebounds for Paine (2-20, 2-12).

In the nightcap, Albany State led bell-to-bell in the contest; making their first basket of the night, a layup from Napoleon Harris, and never trailed throughout the entire 40 minutes.

The Golden Rams saw the lead swell to as many as 19 points on a night where the visitors shot 50 percent from the floor.

Tyrell Williams paced Albany State (12-14, 11-5) with 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting and 14 rebounds. Randy McClure and Jared Harrington both scored 13 points for ASU.

Cameron Gaines led Paine (6-15, 5-9) with 18 points.

Albany State will host Senior night and basketball homecoming this weekend. The highlight of the weekend will be games against rival Fort Valley State University with the women’s game beginning at 6 p.m. and then men to follow.
