Albany State’s Dionte Bonneau, Gabriel Ballinas honored by SIAC

Albany State football players Dionte Bonneau and Gabriel Ballinas earned weekly awards from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on Tuesday.
Bonneau was named the SIAC’s Offensive Player of the Week, and Ballinas was picked as Special Teams Player of the Week.
Bonneau, a sophomore quarterback, led the Rams to a 28-12 victory over Shorter by completing 20 of 27 passes for 278 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. The Atlanta native completed passes to eight different receivers, and also led the team in rushing with 84 yards.
Ballinas put all four of his punts inside the Shorter 20-yard line, including two downed inside the 5-yard line. The junior from Guadeloupe, Mexico averaged 61.2 yards per kickoff with a pair of touchbacks.
