The top six teams remained in order in the latest Associated Press Top 25, but there was a surprise program crashing the rankings on Sunday.

Army entered the poll at No. 23, the first time the Black Knights having been ranked since 1996.

Army (9-2) has rolled off seven straight victories and will be looking to record its second straight 10-win campaign when it plays Navy on Dec. 8 in Philadelphia.

The Black Knights’ losses are to Duke and Oklahoma, the latter in overtime.

Alabama remained atop the poll as it received all 61 first-place votes. Fellow unbeaten squads Clemson and Notre Dame stayed at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively.

One-loss teams Michigan, Georgia and Oklahoma remained in the next three spots.

Washington State moved up to No. 7, while Central Florida moved up three spots to tie LSU at No. 8.

Ohio State, which survived a scare from Maryland before prevailing 52-51 in overtime, dropped one spot to No. 10.

Texas moved up two places to No. 11 but Big 12 rival West Virginia fell five spots to No. 12 after losing to Oklahoma State.

Syracuse also took a plunge after falling to Notre Dame. The Orange dropped seven spots to No. 19.

Florida moved up two spots to No. 13, while Utah State remained at No. 14.

Penn State is 15th, followed by Washington, Kentucky and Utah.

Northwestern moved up four spots to No. 20. Boise State is 21st and Mississippi State is 22nd.

Iowa State also dropped sharply, falling seven spots after losing to Texas.

Falling out of the poll were Cincinnati (19th last week) and Boston College (22nd).
