LEESBURG — Lee County standout defensive lineman Aubrey Solomon has been selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
The senior, a two-time member of the Albany Herald’s Dynamite Diozen Team, is verbally committed to Michigan and is one of the top defensive line prospects in the nation.
Solomon tweeted, “I’m tearing up. This a dream come true.”
Last season, Solomon registered 60 tackles, including 12 for loss and six quarterback sacks. The 6-foot-4, 292-pounder played a major role in Lee County’s 20-13 victory over Jones County Thursday night in the Corky Kell Classic at Mercer University.
He is the second athlete in three seasons from the Albany-area to be selected to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, joining former Westover standout Trent Thompson who played in the game two years ago. Thompson is now at Georgia.
The all-star game will be played January 7, 2017 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
