Benedict holds up late run by Albany State.

COLUMBIA, South Carolina | Albany State’s Golden Rams put up a 17-2 run in the fourth quarter and closed a 21-point gap to only four points with less than a minute to play, but the Lady Tigers of Benedict College held on and beat Albany State 63-58 in a SIAC matchup in South Carolina.
After Benedict split a pair of free throws, Ciera Norman drilled a 3-pointer with 20 seconds remaining to make it a four-point game.
The Golden Rams forced a turnover but a three from Norman rimmed out with seven seconds remaining.
The Tigers netted another free throw to salt away the game, 63-58.
Ashley Johnson had a team-high 18 points for Albany State (7-17, 6-7).
Ay’Anna Bey led Benedict (18-5, 13-0) with 21 points and 16 rebounds.
The Golden Rams are in Augusta on Monday night for a SIAC matchup with Paine College. ASU won the first meeting between the two schools this season, 72-70. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
