The Atlanta Braves activated phenom outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. from the 10-day disabled list amid several roster moves Thursday.

Right-hander Brandon McCarthy is headed to the DL with right knee tendinitis. Meanwhile, right-hander Matt Wisler has been recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett, where right-hander Wes Parsons has been optioned.

Acuna has been sidelined nearly a month with a left knee contusion and mild anterior cruciate ligament sprain suffered after losing his footing while legging out an infield single in Boston. The 20-year-old is hitting .265 with five home runs and 13 RBIs in 29 games with the Braves to start his major league career.

Acuna had three hits in 21 at-bats during a six-game rehab stint with Gwinnett.

With Acuna back in the fold and expected to resume everyday duties in the outfield, the Braves will return to using Charlie Culberson, who has several game-winning home runs to his credit this season, in a utility role.

McCarthy last pitched Sunday, allowing three runs on five hits in five innings against the Baltimore Orioles. The 34-year-old has a 4.92 ERA in 15 starts this season.

Wisler, 25, is involved in a roster move for the third time in three days. He was recalled from Gwinnett on Tuesday, optioned back there Wednesday to make room for Parsons and is now back with McCarthy injured.

Wisler is 1-1 with a 4.32 ERA is six games (three starts) this season for Atlanta. Parsons, 25, didn’t pitch during his one-day stint with the team and still has yet to make his major league debut.

The Braves, atop the National League East at 45-34, are off Thursday before traveling to St. Louis for a three-game series against the Cardinals starting Friday.
