Calhoun’s Jasiyah Suber co-Player of Year in Region 1-A

ALBANY — Only the Calhoun County boys and the Seminole County girls remained alive in the GHSA Class A Division II basketball playoffs when coaches in the region announced their awards this past week.

Mitchell County head coach Antonio Haynes earned the Coach of the Year award for Region 1-A, and his star player, Landen Quimbley, earned the Co-Player of the Year award, along with Calhoun County’s Jasiyah Suber.

Terrell County’s Shaheed Huckaby and Early County’s Jabril Lindsey shared the Offensive Player of the Year Award while Amajion Figgins of Calhoun County and Mitchell County’s Jaquavian Williams earned the Defensive Player of the Year title.

Those who earned “First-Team” All-Region were:  Jaleen Gibson of Randolph-Clay, Keavoten Anderson of Terrell County, Zechariah Canidate of Calhoun County, Nate Tinson from Early County, D.J. Yarbrough of Seminole County, Zilon Hawkins of Mitchell County, Jes’Us Daniels of Randolph Clay and Ethan Johnson of Seminole County.

Also named to the first team were Kemarion Pugh of Early County, Zayveon Lee of Terrell County, David Campbell of Mitchell County, and Andrew Keown of Miller County.’ Earning second-team All-Region recognition were Michael Carter of Terrell County, Jayden McCray of Miller County, Dallas George of Calhoun County, Darnell Enocher of Calhoun County, Tyrion Smith of Randolph-Clay, Jaymond Vicks of Mitchell County, Bryce Green of Early County, J.T. Calloway of Miller County, Andrew Haynes of Mitchell County, Javarrien Jones of Early County, Zion Suber of Calhoun County, Semaj Pinkins of Pataula, Nick Price of Pataula and Jaylin Perry of Terrell County.

Brandon Ingram of Seminole County was named Coach of the Year and Early County’s Jacorra Russell took the Player of the Year award. Zyi’Keria King of Seminole County was named Offensive Player of the Year and Takyrah Jones of Randolph-Clay earned Defensive Player of the Year.

Those named First Team All-Region included Jacorra Russell of Early County, Zyi’Kiera King of Seminole County, Takyrah Jones of Randolph-Clay, Saniyah Rogers of Early County, Ty’Jerric Russell of Early County, Na’Kevia Brown of Early County, Taneria Williams of Seminole County, Equesha Daniels of Seminole Count, Tiara Henry of Seminole County, Desiree Smith of Randolph-Clay, Te’Ahja Hardwick of Randolph-Clay and Jentaiya Rushing of Terrell County.

Earning second-team accolades were Ka’lyiah Ogden, Lakevia Stamper, Ashley Collins, and Kemyra Conley all of Early County.  From Randolph-Clay were Narashjah Josey and Iandia Bowens. From Terrell County, the list includes Tadreuna Rogers, Ciara Harvey,  and jamariana Smith.

Pataula Charter honorees were Kelsie Tillman and Mayanna Chitty. Miller County’s Hannah Crtic made the list along with Mitchell County’s Tytionna Draggs and Layla Mango. Zariah Martin of Seminole County and Quankeythia Josey of Stewart County rounded out the list.
