Former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno reportedly told former assistant Mike McQueary in 2001 that it wasn’t the first time that he had learned that Jerry Sandusky had sexually abused children, per a 2011 Pennsylvania State Police report.

CNN obtained the report that detailed McQueary had gone to Paterno after witnessing an alleged “extreme sexual act occurring between Sandusky and a young boy” in a team shower in February 2001.

McQueary was allegedly told by the Hall of Fame coach that it “was the second complaint of this nature he had received” against Sandusky. According to the police report, McQueary’s account was that “Paterno, upon hearing the news, sat back in his chair with a dejected look on his face” and that the coach’s “eyes appeared to well up with tears.”

McQueary also filed a complaint to former university president Graham Spanier, former vice president Gary Schultz and former athletic director Tim Curley. The three university officials told Sandusky not to bring children onto campus anymore, and police were not notified.

A criminal investigation into Sandusky did not begin until a Pennsylvania school district reported another complaint about him in 2008. Sandusky was convicted in 2012 of 45 counts of child sexual abuse. He is appealing while serving 30 to 60 years in state prison.

–The Miami-Florida State game, set for Sept. 16 in Tallahassee, is likely to be moved to Oct. 7 because of the potential impact from Hurricane Irma, the Tallahassee Democrat reported.

Florida State announced Saturday that its campus would remain closed through Friday.

An official announcement about the game could come as early as Sunday, the newspaper reported, adding that travel, staffing and hotel accommodations could become issues in the aftermath of the storm, which was expected to make landfall in Florida on Sunday.

The Hurricanes and Seminoles have an open date on Oct. 7, making a postponement more likely. No. 16 Miami canceled its scheduled game at Arkansas State for this week, while 10th-ranked Florida State canceled its home game against Louisiana-Monroe.

–Boston College senior center Jon Baker, who had started a team-high 27 consecutive games, will miss the rest of the season because of a knee injury, the school announced.

Baker suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of the Eagles’ season-opening victory at Northern Illinois. He has not redshirted and could return for the 2018 season.

Baker, a team captain, had played in 36 consecutive games before that streak ended Saturday when Boston College played Wake Forest.
