Chris Porter back in Albany
Former Golden State Warrior Chris Porter was in Albany Saturday for the Battle of the South basketball tournament at Monroe High School. Porter is pictured with tournament organizer Fred Pickett. Porter currently coaches in Orlando at the Fairmont Sports Academy, which is a post-high school sports training program. Porter graduated from Abbeville (Ala.) High School and after a two-year stint at Chipola College, he transferred to Auburn University. He was named the SEC Player of the Year in 1999 and earned a cover of Sports Illustrated. After his time at Golden State, he played professionally around the world until 2016. Porter played in Albany at the Battle of the South tournament several times and won the tournament with his team at least twice.
