The Indianapolis Colts are expected to start Jacoby Brissett at quarterback over Scott Tolzien in Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Brissett, acquired from the New England Patriots on Sept. 2, will start the Week 2 home game, according to multiple reports.

Tolzien, 30, started the season opener last Sunday in his fourth career NFL start in place of Andrew Luck, who remains sidelined with a right shoulder injury.

Tolzien was benched in the fourth quarter of a 46-9 loss at the Los Angeles Rams. He threw two interceptions that were returned for touchdowns and finished 9 of 18 for just 128 yards with four sacks before being replaced by Brissett, who was 2 of 3 for 51 yards.

The Colts had only 225 yards of total offense and were 0-of-10 on third down.

Brissett, 24, started two games for the Patriots last season during Tom Brady’s four-game Deflategate suspension following an injury to backup Jimmy Garoppolo.

“You have to make some adjustments,” offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski said Thursday of Brissett. “He’s been here a week, so getting to know him is as important as him getting to know the playbook. That’s a process that happens over time.

“I’ve been impressed in the short amount of time that he’s been here. It would be a very challenging situation. But he’s the type of guy — smart, very poised and I like some of the things I’ve seen on the field just from his physical tools as well.”

Luck, who signed a six-year deal worth $140 million in June 2016, was ruled out for Week 2 by coach Chuck Pagano on Monday. Luck continues to recover from shoulder surgery in January.

“We’ve got to do what’s best for the football team and what gives us the best chance to move the ball and put points on the board,” Pagano told reporters this week.
