Darton State will host All Star Weekend

ALBANY — All Star Weekend will be held March 18-19 at the Cavalier Arena at Darton State College. The event will feature a Stop the Violence “Community Heroes” basketball game that will kick off All Star Weekend.
The game will feature participants such as Judge Willie Weaver, Attorney Ingrid Driskell, Dr. Charles King, Jr., Dramoski Franklin (APD), Stephanie Dyer (ASU) and many more. There will also be an Elementary All Star Basketball Classic, Middle School Basketball Showcase, Boys & Girls High School All Star Basketball Games and a Youth Cheer & Dance Showcase.
There will be a total of 12 events in 2 days. Nearly 500 kids will participate. Elite Sports & Marketing has hosted the All Star event for the past five years and the event continues to grow. Toyota of Albany will give one lucky fan the opportunity to win a 2016 Toyota Camry during halftime of the boys’ game at 8:30 pm on Saturday. Last year, more than 3,000 people attended the two-day event.
Players that have participated in the All Star Week events have gone on to play collegiate basketball at the University of Georgia, Florida State, Clemson, Tennessee, North Carolina-Charlotte, Appalachian State, Gardner Webb, Florida Gulf Coast, West Virginia, Savannah State, Florida Institute of Technology, Albany State, Columbus State, Valdosta State, Fort Valley State, Tuskegee and Armstrong State as well several junior colleges.
All Star Weekend will feature several players that have already signed scholarships to attend major universities. Players such as Tyree Crump (Georgia), Anfernee McLemore (Auburn), Kobi Thornton (Clemson), A’Tyanna Gaulden (Florida State) and Nausia Woolfolk (Florida State) will be participating.
