AMERICUS – The Deerfield-Windsor Lady Knights won their 18th straight game Wednesday at Georgia Southwestern University in the GIAA Region basketball tournament, beating rival Terrell Academy 60-30 to advance to Thursday night’s championship game.

Deerfield-Windsor led 14-2 at the end of the first quarter and never were threatened.

Four of the Lady Knights put up double figures in scoring. Margaret Sadler led with 16 points, Gabrielle Harris and Murphy Ray each scored 14 points and Joi Hubbard added 10.

Liza West led the Lady Eagles with nine points.

The Lady Knights (22-1) will play Tiftarea (17-4) for the region championship after Tiftarea upset Southland Academy 43-35.

The Deerfield-Windsor Knights were not as fortunate and fell to Broolwood 39-36.
