The Miami Dolphins announced the signing of free-agent quarterback Brock Osweiler on Friday.
The deal is reportedly for one year. Osweiler visited the Dolphins on Thursday.
The former Denver Broncos, Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans quarterback has 25 starts the past three seasons, though inconsistency and inaccuracy have plagued his career. He has 27 interceptions compared to 31 touchdowns in the NFL and has completed 59.2 percent of his passes in his career.
The signing will reunite Osweiler, 27, with Dolphins head coach Adam Gase, who was an assistant with the Broncos from 2012 to 2014.
In Miami, Osweiler could serve as insurance behind starter Ryan Tannehill, who is returning after missing all of last season with a knee injury. However, the Dolphins are widely expected to draft a quarterback in 2018 and reportedly hosted Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield for a private workout this week.
In addition to Osweiler, the Dolphins announced the signing of running back Frank Gore and re-signing of tackle Sam Young on Friday.
