Dream rally to send Fever to 10th straight loss, 72-67

Tiffany Hayes scored 23 points, and the Atlanta Dream came from behind in the second half to keep the visiting Indiana Fever winless with a 72-67 win Thursday at McCamish Pavilion.
The Dream, who have won four of five, used a 9-0 run midway through the fourth quarter to grab the lead from Indiana.
Angel McCoughtry knocked down a pull-up jumper from the right wing to give the Dream the lead, and Layshia Clarendon followed with a 3-pointer that put Atlanta in front 60-55 with four minutes to play.
The Fever were unable to mount a comeback and fell to 0-10 on the season. Indiana has lost 18 in a row dating back to last season and is 2-28 since July 1.
Candice Dupree led Indiana with 17 points, and Victoria Vivians and Tiffany Mitchell each added 13 points for the Fever.
McCoughtry finished with 16 points, including a pair of free throws with 18.1 seconds to play that pushed the Dream lead to 66-60.
Jessica Breland had six points and 13 rebounds for Atlanta, and Clarendon added nine points off the bench.
After a tight first half, the Fever opened the third quarter with a 10-2 run, capped by a 3-pointer from Vivians to give Indiana a 50-43 lead.
Atlanta (6-4) called timeout and regrouped to score the next six points. The Dream trailed 51-49 heading into the fourth quarter.
Hayes hit a high-arching, lean-in jumper as time expired in the second quarter to send the Dream into halftime with a 41-40 lead. Hayes led all scorers with 17 in the first half.
Dupree, Mitchell and Vivians each had 10 points, combining for 30 of the Fever’s 40 first-half points.
Natalie Achonwa finished with 10 points for the Fever, who were held to 27 points in the second half.
The two teams will square off again Saturday in Indiana.
