Eckerd College tops Golden Rams

ALBANY, Ga. | The Arena at West Campus played host to a non-conference matchup between Albany State and Eckerd College on Wednesday night and the visitors from St. Petersburg, FL took the win 51-47.
Eckerd jumped out to a 30-21 halftime lead behind an 11-2 run to close out the first half.
The ASU defense played perhaps their best game of the season, limiting the visitors to 31 percent shooting on the night, including holding the Tritons to 0-for-10 from the field in the third quarter.
The Golden Rams used the smothering defensive performance to take a one point lead with 7:01 remaining in the game. However, the visitors followed with a 12-0 run to put the contest out of reach.
Alexandria James led the way for Albany State (7-16) with 11 points and seven rebounds. Ciera Norman finished with 10 points for the Golden Rams.
Chelsea Johnson paced Eckerd (14-6) with 20 points.
The Golden Rams travel to South Carolina on Saturday, February 9th, to take on Benedict College. Game time is set for 1:00 pm
