Falcons bring back former Lee County star Jammie Robinson

ATLANTA — Jammie Robinson is staying close to home.

The former Lee County High School standout has re-signed with the Atlanta Falcons, joining the team’s practice squad Wednesday as he begins his fourth NFL season.

Atlanta also signed defensive lineman Zach Harrison and defensive end Khalid Kareem to the practice squad while releasing defensive back Cobee Bryant and defensive end Cam Sample.

For Robinson, the move continues a relationship with the Falcons that began late last season.

Robinson initially survived Atlanta’s final roster cuts this summer and made the Falcons’ 53-man roster before being waived Monday when the team claimed three players following the NFL’s cutdown deadline. Two days later, Atlanta brought him back on the practice squad.

The 25-year-old defensive back appeared in six games for Atlanta last season, primarily contributing on special teams.

Robinson has played in 27 NFL games with two starts over three seasons, recording 21 tackles.

His road to the NFL began in Southwest Georgia.

A Cordele native, Robinson became a standout at Lee County, helping the Trojans establish themselves among Georgia’s elite programs before beginning his college career at South Carolina. He was a vital part of Lee County’s defense that helped the Trojans win the state football championship in 2018. He was named the Class 6A Defensive Player of the Year.

After two seasons with the Gamecocks, Robinson transferred to Florida State and developed into one of the ACC’s top defensive backs.

He earned first-team All-ACC honors in both of his seasons with the Seminoles, becoming the first Florida State defensive player since Jalen Ramsey to earn first-team all-conference recognition in consecutive years.

Robinson saved one of his best seasons for his last.

He led Florida State with 99 tackles in 2022 while adding five tackles for loss, a sack, an interception, five pass breakups and a fumble recovery. He was named the Seminoles’ Defensive MVP.

Carolina selected Robinson in the fifth round with the 145th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

He appeared in 15 games and made two starts as a rookie before playing six games for Carolina in 2024.

Robinson’s NFL journey eventually took him through Arizona, Kansas City and Detroit before Atlanta signed him to its practice squad in November 2025. The Falcons elevated him for several games and eventually signed him to the active roster in December.

He remained with Atlanta throughout the offseason and training camp and did enough to earn a spot on the initial 53-man roster.

Although Monday’s roster maneuver briefly put his future with the Falcons in doubt, it didn’t take long for Atlanta to bring him back.

Now Robinson will begin the 2026 season on the Falcons’ practice squad — and continue his NFL career less than 200 miles from where it began at Lee County High School.
