Falcons bring back linebacker Bruce Carter

The Falcons have signed linebacker Bruce Carter to a one-year contract extension, the club announced Monday night.
The seven-year veteran played in 11 games for Atlanta last season and posted 21 tackles (16 solo) and seven special teams tackles. In 101 career games, Carter has totaled 327 tackles, five sacks, 14 quarterback hits, five interceptions and 17 passes defensed. He spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New York Jets before being signed by the Falcons in Sept. 2018.
Carter was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round of 2011 Draft and saw action in 49 games with 32 starts in his four years with the team. In his third season, Carter totaled a season-high 96 tackles (73 solo), including two sacks, four quarterback hits and three passes defensed. In 2014, he posted a season-high five interceptions, including one for a touchdown, and eight passes defensed.
