Former Westover star takes head coaching job

DECATUR, Ala. – Former Westover and Auburn football standout Aairon Savage has been named as the head football coach at Decatur High School in northern Alabama near Huntsville.

Savage, a defensive back who played on Auburn’s 2010 national championship team, was coaching defensive backs at Western Illinois University before taking the Decatur job. His resume also includes coaching stints at Georgia State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Northern Iowa, Arkansas Tech, and Army as well as Valdosta High School. He also spent time as a graduate assistant at Georgia Tech and Auburn.

After graduating from Westover, Savage played four years at Auburn University where he finished with 116 tackles and made 37 of those tackles as a senior when Auburn won the national championship.
