ALBANY– Four standout athletes from the Dougherty County Xtreme Track Club will represent Region 9 at the 2025 AAU Junior Olympic Games, set for July 28–August 2 in Humble, Texas.

Each athlete’s journey to the national stage has been marked by perseverance, discipline, and a deep commitment to both sport and academics.

Twin brothers Joel and Jason Robertson return to the AAU postseason with unfinished business. Last year, both advanced through two rounds of qualifying only to fall short of the national meet. This summer, they returned with renewed focus.

“They came back with focus and fire,” said DCX head coach Richard Brigham. “This year, they weren’t leaving anything to chance.”

Their determination paid off. Joel and Jason, both honor roll students, secured their spots among the country’s top youth competitors.

First-year athlete Kaiden Washington has also made an immediate impact. Competing in his first season of track and field, Washington claimed the Region 9 title in the long jump — a remarkable achievement for a newcomer. In addition to his athletic success, he has maintained straight A’s in the classroom.

“Kaiden’s raw talent is obvious, but it’s his discipline and drive that truly set him apart,” said Brigham.

Dexter Lampkin returns to the Junior Olympics for a third consecutive year with his sights set on earning All-American status. Last summer, he narrowly missed a top-eight finish in the turbo javelin, falling short by inches.

“He ran off the field into my arms crying,” said Brigham. “As a coach, I encouraged him. As a father, it crushed me.”

Since then, Lampkin has added more than 25 feet to his throw and now surpasses 100 feet in competition — a mark that places him among the favorites this year.

All four athletes are members of honor societies and academic clubs, and they embody the DCX motto: Built by Family. Powered by Community. Their success reflects years of early morning workouts, late-night studying, and the unwavering support of their families and coaches.

As they prepare for the national spotlight, the team is asking for community support to help fund travel, lodging, and competition costs.
