Florida State Head Coach Willie Taggart announced Saturday night that he has released starting quarterback Deondre Francois from the team. Several news outlets reported that Francois had beaten his pregnant girlfriend. Francois denied that report and said his girlfriend had attacked him. The dual-threat quarterback had also been thinking of leaving the FSU team and declaring for the upcoming NFL draft.

“Last night, I informed Deondre Francois that he is no longer a member of the Florida State football program,” Taggart said. “As we build a new culture and foundation for FSU Football, we have high expectations for all of our student-athletes and we will not shy away from those high standards of conduct. We are moving forward as a program.”
