Georgia gymnastics to host LSU

ATHENS, Ga. — The Georgia gymnastics team welcomes the LSU Tigers to Stegeman Coliseum on Friday, February 9 at 6 p.m. The meet will be the first of a triple header on the SEC Network’s Friday Night Heights.

SERIES HISTORY

The GymDogs hold a 69-43-2 record against the Tigers.

LAST MEETING

Georgia went to Baton Rouge last season and scored a 196.850, falling to LSU’s 197.700. The teams met again in the Denver Regional, where the GymDogs scored a 197.00 and the Tigers advanced with a 197.375.

BEST BARS SCORE SINCE 2019

Georgia’s bars score of 49.500 against Florida is the highest mark since the 2019 NCAA Athens Regional.

HISTORIC ALL-AROUND SCORE FOR LILY SMITH

Lily Smith captured her first-ever all-around title in her second meet competing all four events, totaling a 39.600 against the Gators, which is the highest all-around score from a Georgia freshman since Courtney Kupets in 2006.

LILY SMITH SCORES A PERFECT 10 ON BARS

In her third meet as a GymDog, freshman Lily Smith scored a Perfect 10 on bars.

Lily Smith is only the fourth freshman in Georgia gymnastics history to record a Perfect 10 on bars and the tenth to achieve a 10.0 in their rookie season- marking the first since 2001.

Smith’s 10.0 is the first from a GymDog since Rachel Baumann on floor in 2022 and the first on bars since Marissa Oakley in 2019.

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK

Four freshmen competed 10 routines in Georgia’s first three meets this season and then two more freshmen made their debuts against Kentucky for a total of six gymnasts competing 14 routines.

Ady Wahl competes in all four events, scoring a 9.925 on vault, and a 9.900 on bars and floor with a high all-around score of 39.375.

Lily Smith notched a Perfect 10 in week three on bars and contributed a 9.950 on beam and a 9.925 on floor. She has three SEC Freshman of the Week accolades under her belt and ranks tied for third in the country on bars. She has competed all-around twice, notching a 9.850 on vault and an all-around score of 39.600.

Anya Turner has scored a high of 9.875.

Jaydah Battle has competed on vault and beam, notching a season-high score of 9.800 on vault and 9.875 on beam. She is second on the team with a 9.820 average on beam.

Holly Snyder and Zora Morgan made their debuts on bars and beam, respectively, against Kentucky. Snyder has scored a 9.900 on bars and Morgan a 9.875 on beam.
