ATHENS, Ga. — The Georgia women’s basketball team fell in a close game to Virginia Tech, 70-61, in this year’s SEC/ACC Challenge.

  • Redshirt sophomore Fatima Diakhate led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with 16 points while grabbing 10 rebounds for her fifth-career double-double.
  • Trinity Turner added 14 points for Georgia. The freshman has scored in double figures in eight of 10 games played this season.
  • Freshman Summer Davis played a season-high 23 minutes in the loss, scoring 11 points.
  • Senior Asia Avinger tallied a new season high in assists with eight.
  • After Wednesday’s loss, the Bulldogs continue to lead the series against the Hokies, 4-1. When the two teams met last in 2019 at the Daytona Beach Invitational, Georgia earned a 77-72 victory.

Georgia will conclude its four-game homestand against UNC Greensboro on Monday, Dec. 16, with tipoff set for 11 a.m.
