Georgia Tech baseball ranked No. 2 in preseason poll

THE FLATS – In anticipation of the 2026 college baseball season, Georgia Tech baseball has been ranked No. 2 in the Perfect Game preseason national rankings. It is the fourth-highest preseason ranking in program history and the highest since 2003, 2001 and 1994 when the Yellow Jackets were awarded preseason No. 1.

“It’s great to see us ranked so highly to start the season,” head coach James Ramsey said. “It’s a reflection of all the hard work that our players and staff have been putting in since the end of last season both in recruiting new players and continuing to develop the talent that helped us to an ACC Championship last year. We’re all excited to get to work and put a product on the field that Georgia Tech can rally behind and be proud of. We know our fanbase is ready for championship level baseball on The Flats and our team couldn’t be more excited to play this season in front of them.”

This is the first preseason ranking for the Jackets since 2022, the first Top 10 preseason ranking since 2012 and the first Top 5 preseason ranking since the 2006 season.

The Yellow Jackets are the highest ranked of eight Atlantic Coast Conference teams in the Top-25 poll, alongside No. 9 Florida State (home series – April 9-11). No. 14 Virginia, No. 16 Louisville, No. 18 North Carolina, No. 20 Clemson, No. 22 NC State (home series – March 27-29) and No. 24 Miami (Fla.). The ACC has the second-most teams in the Top-25 only behind the SEC’s nine.

The Perfect Game Top-25 poll comes one day after the publication awarded Georgia Tech with the most preseason All-Americans in the nation in its Preseason All-American list. The Jackets received four All-American nods, including being the only program in the nation with multiple players listed on the 1^st Team: CF Drew Burress (1^st Team) C Vahn Lackey (1^st Team) 2B Jarren Advincula (2^nd Team) UTL Alex Hernandez (3^rd Team).

2026 will be the first season for new Head Coach James Ramsey who has been serving as an assistant coach for the past seven seasons. Since Ramsey took over coaching the offense in 2019, Georgia Tech leads the ACC in batting average (.308), OPS (.918), OBP (.408), hits (3,961), doubles (796) and SAC Flies (208) and is second in runs (2,937), triples (84), home runs (547), RBI (2,709) and slugging (.510) with more to come in 2026.

First pitch for the highly anticipated 2026 season is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 13 at 4 p.m. when the Yellow Jackets host Bowling Green for a three-game series at Mac Nease Baseball Park at Russ Chandler Stadium.
