Georgia women stay unbeaten -now 12-0

RICHMOND, Va. — When the game tightened, Trinity Turner loosened it — decisively.

Behind a season-high 23 points from the sophomore guard, the Georgia Lady Bulldogs pulled away late to defeat the VCU Rams 72-53 on Friday night, improving to 12-0 and extending one of the best starts in program history.

Turner scored 14 of her 23 points in the second half and sparked a dominant fourth-quarter surge that turned a two-point game into a runaway. Georgia outscored VCU 28-11 in the final period after clinging to a 44-42 lead through three quarters.

Turner was efficient and assertive, finishing 9-of-13 from the field and knocking down 4-of-5 shots from beyond the arc. The performance marked her sixth career 20-point game and gave Georgia a steady offensive engine when possessions mattered most.

After trading blows for much of the third quarter, the Lady Bulldogs found separation with defensive discipline and shot-making. Georgia committed just two turnovers in the second half and finished with only 10 for the game, repeatedly capitalizing on VCU mistakes. The Lady Bulldogs held a 17-2 advantage in points off turnovers and led for all but one minute of the contest.

Support came in waves. Sophomore Dani Carnegie added 13 points, as did Mia Woolfolk, helping Georgia maintain balance while Turner took over late. The Lady Bulldogs’ composure showed in the closing minutes, as they consistently turned stops into baskets and free throws, gradually draining the Rams’ resistance.

The win moves Georgia to 12-0 for the first time since the 2014 season. The Lady Bulldogs will now have a chance to make more history Sunday, when they face Coppin State Eagles at noon ET in the final game of the 2025 4Tha Culture Classic. A victory would give Georgia its first 13-0 start since 2009.

For now, the Lady Bulldogs remain unbeaten — and increasingly convincing — as the season’s early test continue to fall their way.
