ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia junior linebacker Jalon Walker has been tapped as the Chuck Bednarik Award Player of the Week following the Bulldogs’ 30-15 win at No. 1 Texas, according to a Maxwell Football Club announcement Tuesday.

Walker, a native of Salisbury, N.C., earned Bednarik Player of the Week honors after a historic performance in a huge Southeastern Conference matchup against the Longhorns. Walker recorded seven tackles, three sacks and a fumble recovery, all in the first half of the game. His performance was especially remarkable as he became the first player in the last 20 years to register three sacks and seven tackles in a game against the AP No. 1 team.

Walker’s relentless pressure on the quarterback and ability to shut down the run were pivotal in Georgia’s defensive dominance. His trio of sacks stalled key Texas drives, and his fumble recovery further shifted momentum toward the Bulldogs. Walker’s outstanding play not only helped Georgia secure the win, but also solidified his status as one of the top defensive players in college football.

Following an off week this Saturday, No. 2 Georgia (6-1, 4-1 SEC) travels to Jacksonville, Fla., to play Florida (4-3, 2-2) on Nov. 2. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET and the ABC will televise the matchup.
