ATHENS, Ga. — Freshman Lily Smith of the Georgia gymnastics team was named SEC Freshman of the Week, the Southeastern Conference announced Tuesday.

Smith scored a Perfect 10 on bars in her third meet as a GymDog. She is the tenth freshman in Georgia gymnastics history to achieve a Perfect 10 in their rookie season and the first to do so since 2001.

She continued the meet with stellar beam and floor routines, scoring a 9.950 and a 9.925 on those events respectively. In addition to being the high scorer on bars, she took home the event title on floor as well.

The Limerick, Pa. native is one of six gymnasts to score a 10.0 on bars this season- of those she has the highest average on the event with a 9.950, ranking second overall in the country.

This is the second SEC weekly honor for Smith, who earned the distinction in week one.

Smith and the GymDogs are on the road next week at Kentucky. The teams tumble into action on Friday, January 26 at 7:00 p.m. in Rupp Arena.
