From Staff Reports

For the second night in a row, a slow start ultimately proved too much to overcome as the Golden Rams fell to Georgia Southwestern State, 71-66.

Albany State (3-8) fell behind 38-27 in the first half, shooting only 35 percent from the field as opposed to 50 percent from the home team.

The second half was a different story as ASU shot 56 percent from the field while holding GSW to 40 percent.

The Golden Rams took less than 10 minutes of the second half to storm back and tie the game before eventually taking a lead. GSW, however, used a 10-2 run to pull away and fend off a late ASU rally.

Michael Green led Albany State with 16 points. Jonathan Henderson added 11 points while Tyrell Williams and Mario Young scored 10 points each.

Kwei Lartey and R.J. Sessions led Georgia Southwestern State (2-5) with 17 points a piece.

The Golden Rams were back in conference action on Saturday when they traveled to Birmingham, Ala. and take on Miles College. ASU won the lone matchup against the Golden Bears last season, 72-57.
