Four-time Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon was among five men elected into the NASCAR Hall of Fame’s 2019 class that was announced Wednesday.

Gordon, who received votes on 96 percent of the 60 ballots cast, will be joined by Jack Roush, Roger Penske, Davey Allison and Alan Kulwicki in being inducted next winter.

The 46-year-old Gordon, who was eligible for the first time, ranks third all-time with 93 Cup wins, trailing only Richard Petty and David Pearson.

Allison (driver) and Penske (owner) were chosen in their second year on the ballot, while Roush (owner) and Kulwicki (owner/driver) were on their fourth appearance.

Allison and Kulwicki each died in 1993 in separate aviation accidents. Allison had 19 victories, including one Daytona 500, in his career while Kulwicki captured the 1992 championship.

Roush, 76, presided over five teams to have won NASCAR national series titles, and Penske, 81, led his teams to 107 wins and a Cup Series title in 2012.

Jim Hunter, a longtime NASCAR executive and the former president of Darlington Raceway, was named the 2019 recipient of the Hall of Fame’s Landmark Award.
