Hank Wright named headmaster at Westwood in Camilla

CAMILLA — Westwood School has named longtime educator and administrator Hank Wright as its next headmaster, the school announced Wednesday morning on its Facebook page.

Wright, an Albany native who spent more than three decades in the Lee County School System, will assume the position in June 2026. He replaces Keith Croft as the head of the Camilla private school.

Wright retired from Lee County in June 2025 after serving as an assistant principal and athletic director at Lee County High School, roles in which he became a familiar figure in Southwest Georgia education and athletics.

Now, less than a year after stepping away from the profession, Wright will return to school leadership at Westwood.

“I am looking forward to it and I think it will be a good change of pace,” Wright said.

While he prepares to step into the role next summer, Wright said he plans to spend the coming weeks learning more about the school before outlining any specific goals.

“I don’t have priorities yet,” Wright said. “I will be finding out more about the school in the next few weeks.”

Wright’s appointment brings more than 30 years of experience in the Lee County system to Westwood School, which serves students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade in Camilla. He is expected to begin his duties ahead of the 2026-27 academic year.
