Westover had some opportunities slip away in Olten Downs’ debut as head coach Friday, with the Patriots losing 14-10 at Cook.

According to a report from the Valdosta Daily Times, the Patriots had a solid night defensively, holding Cook quarterback Tre Williams to 42 yards to go along with 200 rushing yards. But Westover wasn’t able to answer Williams’ 4-yard touchdown run midway through the third quarter, a score that stood up as the final.

Westover, which is off in Week 2 before taking on Monroe on Oct. 31, had 14 penalties for 105 yards. Ryan Flownory scored the Patriots’ lone touchdown on a 1-yard run in the second quarter.
