THE FISHING LINE: ( * ) – poor; ( * * ) – fair; ( * * * ) – good; ( * * * * ) – excellent.
LAKE SEMINOLE ( * * ): Bass are fair up Spring Creek and in Fish Pond Drain. Fish Shad Raps over grass beds and use buzzbaits on cloudy days. Crappies are fair to good at varying depths. Use the slip-cork method for best results at locating fish. Use minnows and be as exact as you can regarding depth. Bream are slow, but a few may bite up the Flint River. Catfish continue good in deep water on the usual baits. (three-quarter fish)
LAKE WALTER F. GEORGE ( * * ): A lot of small keeper bass may be caught on spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. Target grassy areas early and late. Also look for bass up the creeks on timber and in brushpiles. Use small worms and fish slowly. Crappies are fair at moderate depths. Night fishing is still an option. Hybrids and bream are slow. Catfishing is fair to good, especially early in the morning and late in the afternoon. (half fish)
FLINT RIVER ( * ): Water conditions look reasonably good overall and most anglers say fluctuation of water level has not been too drastic. Largemouths are slow, but shoal bass are relatively active. Try a Baby One-Minus in a crawdad pattern in the shoals. Crappies are slow. Channel catfish are fair in spots on worms. Bream are fair downriver and sporadic elsewhere. Angling pressure is very light at present. (one-quarter fish)
LAKE BLACKSHEAR ( * ): Bass can be good on the flats, especially around the cypress-tree areas. Suggested lures include Shad Raps, Rat-L-Traps, and Texas-rig lizards. Work outward from the channel to the shoreline and fish a chosen area thoroughly before giving up. Expect a lot of small fish. Crappies are fair on minnows at 12 to 15 feet. Bream are slow, catfish are fair, and there are a few small stripers schooling late in the day. (half fish)
