THE FISHING LINE: ( * ) poor; ( * * ) fair; ( * * * ) good; ( * * * * ) excellent.

LAKE SEMINOLE ( ** ) — Bass are good. Spinnerbaits are still the best bet. Use Chartreuse with a white skirt. 3/8-ounce models with double Colorado blades are preferred. Fish sawgrass islands and grass points for post-spawn fish. Up the rivers, in shallow cover, use frog-type baits. Catfish, some big ones, are actively taking cut bait. Pan-size cats will also take wigglers. Bream fishing has been fair, with some recent shellcracker bedding activity reported. Crappies have been fair for the present water conditions.

LAKE WALTER F. GEORGE ( ** ) — Bass remain shallow, and good numbers can be found on rip-rap along shorelines. Fish crankbaits here early in the day. Main-lake Hydrilla flats are producing a few largemouths on spinnerbaits. On the north end of the lake, frog-type lures in isolated grass patches are working fairly well. Also look for post-spawn fish on the deeper creek ledges and fish Texas-rigged worms. Crappie fishing is still slow, but better than last week. Bream remain slow and catfish are still fair in spots.

FLINT RIVER ( ** ) — The flathead catfish are said to be very active in the tailwaters of the power dam. Goldfish and cut bait are producing well. Crappies have been fair to good, but fluctuating water might have an effect on them. Hybrids and stripers have been active in the tailwaters. Bream and bass have been fair, but there are few current reports. There is relatively little fishing pressure on the Flint at present.

LAKE BLACKSHEAR ( ** ) — Bass fishing is on the upswing on the lake right now. Hybrids and stripers have been doing well lately near the Blackshear Dam, and some white bass are also showing up in that vicinity. Night fishing for crappies has been good recently around docks. Best times are from the wee hours of the morning until daylight. Bream and catfish are producing few reports at present.
