ORLANDO, Fla. (TNS) — Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones left game against the Dolphins after suffering an ankle injury on Thursday.

“I’m doing great,” Jones said after the Falcons lost 17-6 to Miami Thursday night in an exhibition game at Camping World Stadium.

He could have returned to the action.

“It’s preseason,” Jones said. “I did a couple of series and I was just done. I could have went, but I was just done. They didn’t need to see any more out of me of even try to risk something because it’s preseason and it really doesn’t count. We just wanted to get the young guys in there and get them some good looks.”

Jones was targeted on two plays and had one catch for 17 yards.

The offense didn’t score a touchdown.

“It went OK out there,” Jones said. “We are still not opening it up because it’s preseason and we don’t want to show too much. They just played better ball than we played tonight. We just have to continue to keep getting better and try to get better.”

Jones, who tied for the league lead with 136 catches last season, is not worried about the offense.

“Nah, nah,” Jones said. “Nothing is broke. We just got to go out there and compete and do what we do. We just have to play better ball. It’s nothing like we weren’t doing this good or we weren’t doing that good. It was just all the way around.”
