TALLAHASSEE — Florida State didn’t just win Saturday. The Seminoles staged a history lesson in offensive excess.
No. 14 FSU flattened East Texas A&M 77-3 at Doak Campbell Stadium, scoring touchdowns on its first 10 drives — a program first — while racking up 729 yards of offense. The 74-point margin tied the largest in school history.
It was a day when the fireworks came from all angles. Wideout Duce Robinson lit the first fuse with 160 first-quarter yards, finishing with 173 and two touchdowns. Running back Gavin Sawchuk accounted for three scores, two rushing and one on a 53-yard catch. The defense piled up nine tackles-for-loss, three sacks and a pair of interceptions.
But for those in Southwest Georgia, one moment stood apart.
Ousmane Kromah, the record-breaking running back from Lee County High, scored his first college touchdown. The freshman caught a short pass from Kevin Sperry, shrugged a tackler, and sprinted 43 yards down the sideline to the end zone late in the third quarter.
For Kromah, who piled up nearly 6,000 rushing yards in Leesburg, it was a milestone met in front of 65,430 fans. He finished with 37 rushing yards on five carries and 43 receiving yards on that one catch — 80 all-purpose yards.
Albany’s Kam Davis also saw touches. The former Dougherty High standout logged two carries for 13 yards, including an 11-yard burst in the second quarter.
Florida State never let East Texas A&M breathe. Quarterback Tommy Castellanos completed 8 of 11 passes for 237 yards and three scores, surpassing 4,000 career passing yards. Backup Sperry threw two touchdowns, including Kromah’s. The Seminoles led 49-0 at halftime, their offense humming with such ease that every possession felt like a highlight reel audition.
By the time Zay Parks — another Seminole newcomer — scored his first touchdown on a 13-yard run in the fourth quarter, the only drama left was whether the scoreboard bulbs would burn out.
The Lions salvaged a 21-yard field goal early in the fourth to avoid a shutout.
FSU now enters its bye week 2-0, having scored in every quarter this season. Kent State comes to Tallahassee on Sept. 20.
