LEESBURG — Lee County quarterback Kyle Toole announced over the weekend that he has decided to play his college football at Troy University in Troy, Alabama. Toole will be moving over to Alabama but he won’t have to change his school mascot because both Lee County and Troy are “Trojans.”

He chose Troy from 12 different college offers including Coastal Carolina, Middle Tennessee State, and Akron, Ohio. Toole is rated as a 3-star quarterback by 247sports.com. He is listed as 6-foot-2, 205 pounds.

Toole is preparing for his senior season at Lee County High School after leading his team to the 6A state championship and a 15-1 season last year. As a junior, he threw for more than 3,000 yards and 34 touchdowns while giving up only two interceptions. He completed 66% of his passes. He was named first team All-Region and All-State. He was also named as the Offensive Player of the Year for the Albany Herald.

“I felt really comfortable with the coaches and liked the facilities,” Toole said as to why he chose Troy. “I also have a couple of former teammates from here at Lee County that play at Troy so that was another reason.” He said he was 100% committed to Troy and is listed as a “hard commit” on the 247sports.com website.

“Kyle is an excellent quarterback and an excellent young man,” said Lee County Head Coach Dean Fabrizio. “He will do well at Troy.” Healso does well in the classroom as he boasts a 3.44 GPS heading into his final year of high school.”

While he is excited about his commitment to Troy, Toole is focused on getting ready for the upcoming season and trying to get back to the state championship game for the third year in a row. “I’m looking forward to the challenge,” Toole said Monday morning. “We are a very young team but we are ready to work every single day to get ready. We have to come together and play for each other,” he said. Toole and the Trojans are looking forward to their next challenge of the summer when they will travel to play in the Corky Kell 7-on-7 tournament in Atlanta on Friday.
