LEESBURG — The Lee County Trojans’ baseball team will host Valdosta on Thursday afternoon in Leesburg, instead of Friday afternoon, according to an email sent by head coach Brian Trivette. Trivette’s email said the games were being changed because of expected bad weather on Friday and the doubleheader will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Lee County baseball stadium. The second game will follow shortly after completion of Game 1.

Valdosta and Lee County (15-13, 5-5) were tied for second place in Region 1-AAAAAA until Tuesday when the Wildcats beat the Trojans 8-3 in Valdosta. The Trojans now need to win both games in the doubleheader Thursday afternoon to remain in second heading into the state playoffs. Houston County has already claimed the first spot from Region 1-AAAAAA.

Tuesday in Valdosta the Wildcats jumped on the board early and built a 6-0 lead after three innings. The Trojans were able to manage only two hits against the Wildcats, one by Hill Corley and the other by Matt Cooper.

Jacob Barwick took the loss on the mound for the Trojans.
