ATLANTA — Lee County will have to wait one more week to play for a state championship.

Friday night’s GHSA Class 6A football championship game against Coffee at Mercedes-Benz Stadium has been postponed because of snow. The GHSA made the announcement shortly before 2 p.m. on Friday.

“Due to worsening weather conditions, the GHSA, in consultation with Mercedes-Benz Stadium officials and the National Weather Service, has postponed Friday’s Class 5A and 6A games and Saturday’s Class A-Public games,” the GHSA posted in a statement on Twitter. “Those games will be played next weekend.

“Saturday’s 2A, 4A and 7A games will be played as scheduled at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.”

The date and time of the makeup game has not been announced. According to a statement the GHSA posted Thursday, the game will be played at Lee County’s Trojan Field, since Lee County beat Coffee on Nov. 3 to win the Region 1-6A title.
