Lee County dominates Coffee in boy’s game; Lee Lady Trojans fall in overtime

LEESBURG – Lee County’s big men dominated inside Saturday night, with three players scoring in double figures to power the Trojans to a commanding 74-36 victory over the Coffee Trojans. The win improves Lee County’s record to 12-4 on the season. In the girls’ game, Lee County fell just short in a tough overtime battle, 54-48.

The boys’ game started competitively, with Coffee matching Lee County’s pace in the first quarter. Coffee’s players battled hard and kept the score close, but the frenetic pace left them visibly winded, hands on hips. Meanwhile, Lee County Head Coach Kirven Davis rotated players seamlessly, maintaining speed and talent on the court. The Trojans led 21-15 after a highlight-reel alley-oop from Braden Moore to Ousmane Kromah at the buzzer.

Lee County took full control in the second quarter, turning up the defensive intensity and outscoring Coffee 26-3. Kromah, Matthew Hardwick, and TreCori Green dominated in the paint, scoring repeatedly to give Lee County a 47-18 halftime lead.

By the end of the third quarter, Lee County had extended its lead to 71-27, allowing Davis to rest his starters for the remainder of the game. Hardwick led all scorers with 19 points, while Green added 12, Kam Sanders scored 11, and Kromah finished with 10.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Trojans held a 37-29 lead heading into the fourth quarter, but Coffee’s aggressive full-court press turned the tide. The defensive pressure forced numerous turnovers, leading to quick points for Coffee and limiting Lee County’s offensive opportunities. Coffee outscored Lee 25-11 in the fourth quarter to force overtime.

The overtime period was tied at 47-47 until Coffee’s defense clamped down late, securing the win. Taliyah Porter led Lee County with 21 points in the loss.

Lee County travels to Houston County on Tuesday before facing Thomas County Central on Saturday.
