Lee County girls take second, boys third in region track and field

The Lee County girls placed second and the boys finished third in the Region 2-5A track and field championships held last at Hugh Mills Stadium.

ALBANY — The Lee County girls placed second and the boys finished third in the Region 2-5A track and field championships held last at Hugh Mills Stadium.

Thomas County Central claimed the girls’ region title, while Houston County captured the boys’ championship.

The Lady Trojans earned several individual region titles. Jade Cintron won the 200-meter dash, Hadiyah Ali claimed the 800-meter run, and Janiyah Marsh took first in the 300-meter hurdles. Lee County also won both the 4×400 and 4×800 relay events.

On the boys’ side, Lee County didn’t bring home any individual titles, but had several strong performances. Braylon Ball finished second in the 200-meter dash, Ja’Mari Arnold was runner-up in the long jump, and the Trojans placed second in the 4×400 relay and third in the 4×800 relay.

Athletes who finished in the top four at the region meet qualified for sectionals, which will be held next week in Villa Rica.
