Lee County opens with 7-0 win

Lee County pitcher Matt Cooper struck out nine batters and allowed no hits or runs in five innings as the Lee County Trojans opened their baseball season Friday evening with a 7-0 win over Lambert High School. The game was played at Packer Park in Moultrie.

The Trojans scored four runs in the first inning then pushed across single runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings. Chase Somers and Hill Corley had two hits and two RBIs each. Logan Goff also had two hits for the Trojans. Spencer Hanson and Flint Davis each smacked a double.

After Cooper’s five innings, Corley finished the game on the mound for the Trojans giving up one hit and striking out two.

The Trojans will play Cairo today in Thomasville at 1:30.
