LEESBURG – The Lee County Trojans (9-1) raced to a 20-2 lead in the first quarter using a pressure defense that caused bad passes by Westside and led to layups for the Trojans as they raced down the court. The Westside Seminoles corrected things from then on, but could not recover and the Trojans won 67-51 on the first night of the Roundball Classic at Lee County High School.

The Trojans led 25-8 at the end of the first quarter but Westside kept pushing and was down by just 12 before Matthew Hardwick swished a jump shot at the buzzer to give the Trojans a 37-23 halftime advantage. The Seminoles closed to within nine (37-28) early in the second half before the Trojans went on another run and pushed the lead to 18 at 46-28. Again, the Seminoles found ways to get past the Lee defense and closed to within nine in the fourth quarter, but that was as close as they could get and the Trojans got hot again. When Christian Brown hit a long three, the Trojans pushed back out to a 58-44 lead and held on for the win.

Brown and DJ Taylor each scored 16 to lead the Trojans while Hardwick added 10. Daveon Henderson led the Seminoles with 18 points.
