Lee County still No. 1 in writers’ poll

Trojans begin GHSA Region 1-6A play Friday at Houston County

The Lee County football team maintained its spot at the top of the Georgia Sports Writers Association GHSA Class 6A poll released Tuesday.

The Trojans (6-0) picked up 16 of a possible 18 first-place votes, with second-place Tucker and third-place Mays each getting a first-place vote.

Region 1-6A play begins this week for Lee County, with the Trojans heading to Houston County on Friday.

No other Albany-area school received votes. Grayson (7A), Rome (5A), Cartersville (4A), Cedar Grove (3A), Benedictine (2A) and Eagle’s Landing Christian (1A) were unanimous first-place choices in the other classifications.
