ALBANY — One of the top recruits in the state of Georgia has re-opened his recruitment after a series of blunders by the school he was previously committed to.

Lee County defensive lineman Aubrey Solomon, who committed to Michigan in June, posted a tweet late Monday night saying he was opening his recruitment up.

The statement said, “Recruitment is a funny thing, you can easily get caught up in the moment and feel that everyone knows who you are. With that being said, I am going to be re-opening my recruitment, to give the opportunity for those recruiters to not only get it right but to get to know me. Academically, you cannot go wrong with Michigan, but this go around I will make my decision with my mother in the drivers seat. I love everything about Michigan and its coaching staff and I still plan on taking my official visit with you. GO BLUE !!”

The four-star defensive tackle explained his decision to 247Sports and cited a pair of mistakes by Michigan as part of the reason.

“A day or two ago, they sent my mom a card thanking us for going to the Michigan bbq, but we never went,” Solomon said to Dawgs247. “I do not know which recruit they were talking to, but it was not me. It was a little heartbreaking, for me to supposedly be so high on their list, for them to confuse me with someone else. Plus, they spelled both of my names wrong after I told them but that was not the main issue. I guess they do not have tabs on me.”

Solomon, who recently accepted an invitation to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, was being recruited heavily by Georgia before committing to Michigan. He also has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Clemson and Florida State to name a few.

In the same interview with 247Sports, Solomon said Michigan is still high on his list but that Georgia is recruiting him “the hardest in the nation.”

Solomon was not the only Lee County player to commit to Michigan. On the same recruiting trip in June, junior defensive back Otis Reese also committed to Michigan.

In the Trojans’ season opener against Jones County, Solomon had three tackles, all of which were for a loss.

Solomon has been a part of the Herald’s Dynamite Dozen team for the past two years and is currently rated as the No. 8 recruit in the state of Georgia.
